Additional security for Facebook using Login Approvals

Facebook has added an additional feature to increase the security of user logins by introducing what they call “Login Approvals“.

So how does Login Approvals work? First of all the authentication system is opt-in, meaning you have to enable it to be able to use it. You can enable Login Approvals from the Account Security section of the Account Settings page.

WordPress 2.6.5 released, security problem fixed

If you’re eagerly waiting for WordPress 2.7, you may need to upgrade your current WordPress to version 2.6.5 in the mean time. The just released version 2.6.5 fixes a possible XSS exploit discovered by Jeremias Reith (thanks jeremias) that affects IP-based virtual servers running on Apache 2.x. It also corrects three bugs.

Important Note: It looks like there’s been a version 2.6.4 floating around the NET. We are also advised that there is NO version 2.6.4 and will never be a version 2.6.4!

Setup and secure your WordPress upload directory

When you use WordPress as your blogging software, one of the things that you need to setup is an upload directory. By default WordPress is configured to use the wp-content/uploads directory. You can think of it as “box” where your media files or images are saved when you upload them while creating your articles under WordPress.

WordPress 2.6.2 released

Just to let you know if you’re using WordPress, version 2.6.2 has been released and available for download.

WordPress version 2.6.2 is a security release so it’s a good idea to update your site if you’re using WordPress. The security fix is specially required if you are allowing users to register on your WordPress blog.
