With the impending release of Samsung’s dual core Galaxy S II Android phone, Globe Telecoms has started to accept pre-orders. The Samsung Galaxy S II will be available from Globe for free with My SuperSurf Plan 3799. But during the pre-order period, Globe Telecoms is offering the Samsung Galaxy S II for free with My SuperSurf Plan 2499.
The Samsung Galaxy S II is among the newest dual-core powered Android phones that will be available in the Philippines. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android version 2.3.
By the end of June 2011, the Philippines will get three super Android phones all of which are powered by dual-core processors. The three dual-core Android phones are the HTC Sensation (coming this June), Samsung Galaxy S II (also coming this June) and the just released LG Optimus 2X.
Mobile phones are fast evolving into small powerful computers and pretty soon most of us won’t feel the need to use a regular desktop computer. All these phones run Android 2.3 also known as the Gingerbread version. Each one has at least 4-inches of display area running at 1-Ghz or more of CPU power. Of course, it has all the basic specs that you’d expect from phones of this caliber like — GPS, bluetooth, dual cameras, Wifi, 3G, internal storage and a lot more.
I visited the Samsung shop at the mall today and got the information that the Samsung Galaxy S II Android powered mobile phone will be available starting June 23 at a Php 30,000 price tag. The Samsung Galaxy S II uses a dual-core 1.2Ghz ARM CPU. It has quad band GSM and quadband 3G.
It sports a 4.3-inch 480×800 Super AMOLED Plus touch screen capable of 16M colors Gorilla Glass display that is multi-touch capable. The Samsung Galaxy S II has an 8-megapixel autofocus primary camera with LED flash able to shoot video at 1080p@30fps. The secondary has a 2-megapixel resolution. To add to it’s audio and video capabilities it also has a stereo FM radio with RDS.

Yesterday, while at the mall, I accidentally found a new member of the Android mobile phones found in the Philippines — the Samsung Galaxy 551. This particular Android phone has a physical keyboard instead of just a touch screen keyboard which should potentially make it a popular choice since the people from the Philippines love to send text messages.
Samsung has been nothing less than aggresive with churning out Android based mobile phones. When the Samsung Spica, one of it’s first Android mobile phones, became available in the Philippines I decided to buy one. Well it looks like Samsung is not stopping anytime soon. Adding to it’s list of Android phones that’s available on the Philippine shores is the Samsung Galaxy 5 cellphone. The Samsung Galaxy 5 is also know as the Samsung Corby i5500 and it looks like it’s the first Android phone under the Corby brand.
The Samsung Galaxy S which is currently available from Globe Telecoms might soon be getting a welcome update to Android version 2.2 also known as the Froyo version if the global update includes the Philippines. There are several enhancements to the Froyo version of Android but speed is probably the most welcome. Android Froyo offers 2-5 times improvement in the speed of mobile apps. Continue reading …
It’s been a while since I’ve made an updated list of the available Android mobile phones in the Philippines. I recently had a look at the mobile phone shops to find out what new Android mobile phones are now available locally. It looks like some more Android phones have already started to find its way in cell phone shops.
This year I decide to start using a connected phone. I’m initially exploring a couple of mobile platforms. One of them is Symbian which is owned by Nokia, the world’s leader in terms of mobile phone sales. The other mobile phone I am using is an Android powered Samsung Spica which I recently bought.
