I’ve finally gotten Uzzap to work. It turned out that my registration to Smart Uzzap failed and wasn’t saved to the Smart Uzzap server. I’ve re-registered and finally gotten to login.
The first thing that I noticed upon logging into the Uzzap service was that it was more responsive than the Globe Unlichat service. One reason may because I’m using Uzzap via a wifi connection (you can only use a mobile phone network with Globe’s Unlichat).

I’m not aware of a GPS service in the Philippines but a friend has been asking how he could use his Mio GPS device here in the Philippines so I thought I’d post it here and see if anyone reading this might know if a GPS service exists in the Philippines.
I know there are some form of location-based services from the Telcos like Smart and Globe Telecom but these are cell site based services and don’t use GPS.

If you’ve listen to the news lately about the current move of the Senate to “solicit” 10% of the Telcos’ earnings from text messages, you’d probably notice that the current estimate for SMS messages in the Philippines is about 2 billion SMS messages daily (that’s daily!).

This post should have been “A look into the Smart’s Uzzap and Globe’s Unlichat” but after several attempts at getting Smart’s Uzzap application installed on my mobile phone I’ve just given up on using it. I’ve gotten to the point that after several attempts I was able to install the software but I just couldn’t login in. I hope you had better luck than I did. It would have been nice to see how they paired up on their Instant Messaging services.
Downloading of the Globe Unlichat application happened with actually no frills. I went to the unlichat web page, typed my mobile phone number. Globe sent me a link for the application download and I got the application installed on my mobile phone in no time. The application doesn’t seem to work over wifi if you have a wifi-equipped mobile phone. You’ll have to use the Globe network to use it.

Yesterday, I got to spend some time at the Mall of Asia with my wife who went to the Graphika Manila 2008 event. Graphika Manila was an annual event of graphic designers in Manila. The sort of get together annually to talk about what’s happening and some of the things that they have done in their professions. It’s one of those events that my wife didn’t want to miss off to Mall of Asia we went.
While waiting for her, decided to go around the gargantuan Mall of Asia to look around. It was a sale weekend so the place was packed with people looking around for bargains aside from the usual mall-strolling popular among Filipinos.
First thing I did was to go to the Nokia store to try out the Nokia E71 and Globe Telecoms (authorized Apple iPhone distributor) to take a look at the Apple iPhone.

Globe Telecom, a mobile phone service provider in the Philippines has finally offered a Twitter update service for it’s cell phone users so I’ve decided to install a twitter widget on this site and check out the new service of Globe.
It’s kinda cool to be able to post small notes on the site and have my family and friends be able to read them when they are online on Net — beats the hell out having to send some “hello messages” to all of them.
