WordPress 2.6.3 has just been released which fixes a low risk vulnerability in the Snoopy library. Snoopy is currently used to fetch the feeds shown in the Dashboard.
The new version is available at the WordPress download page. If you don’t want to download the whole release to get the security fix, you can download the following two files and copy them over your 2.6.2 installation.
- wp-includes/class-snoopy.php
- wp-includes/version.php
If you have ssh access to your blog, here are the commands to update by just replacing the two files:
cd ~/public_html/wp-includes/
wget http://trac.wordpress.org/export/9310/tags/2.6.3/wp-includes/class-snoopy.php
wget http://trac.wordpress.org/export/9310/tags/2.6.3/wp-includes/version.php
mv class-snoopy.php.1 class-snoopy.php;mv version.php.1 version.php

Over the past couple of days I’ve been reading about the higher than normal return rate of Linux netbooks. Being a Ubuntu user, I was curious as to the reason why that would happen. I believe that Ubuntu (eerrr, Linux)
is a better operating system than Windows XP and much better than Windows Vista but why are they opting for Windows?

It seems that it all stemmed from the reason that most of those who bought the Linux netbook was expecting something that would look similar to Windows in terms of interface. Being a Windows user myself, here’s some of my thoughts about the situation on what I’ve been seeing in the currently available NetBooks.

The Android open mobile platform OS has been released! If you want to setup an environment you have two options — use Linux or use Mac OS. The good news is if you will be using Linux, Google recommends and uses Ubuntu (good thing I’m already using Ubuntu Linux!). To get the source code go to source.android.com.

With just 9 Days before the Ubuntu Intrepid release, I think I’ll wait for the final version. This being my very first upgrade, I hope it’s going to be a walk in the park. Wonder how others fared with their previous upgrades. Looks like the Ubuntu guys is itching to get it out the door! Shipit started accepting pre-orders for the free Ubuntu Intrepid CD.

I wonder if anyone do order the CD’s (10 weeks is like forever to get your hands over it)? Hmmm, maybe I’ll get one to commemorate my first ever upgrade of Ubuntu.

Still hot on its heels with the release of the T-Mobile G1, Google and company is already on it’s way to creating the next generation of the Android mobile phone. Dubbed the T-Mobile G2, an image mock up shows up at Phones Review.

It looks like that not only will the G2 have twice the resolution (wow, that would be a 960×640) than the G1, it will also have those gorgeous new interface show in the photo. Less dead space, smaller chin, tilting screen, tabbed browsing to name a few of what’s in store. I’d also want a better camera, A2DP bluetooth, virtual keyboard and video capture with that to go.

When I say the coolest, I mean just that. You won’t have any problems with overheating CPUs if you have one of the Hardcore PC Reator. To solve the heat problem, the motherboard, CPU and GPU has been submersed in oil.

You don’t have to stop at it’s mouth watering looks but this PC comes fully loaded with redundant power supplies and solid state disc drives, Nvidia nForce 790i SLI Ultra graphics unit. Go see how good it looks at this article from Maximum PC.
