Poll results: IDE used for mobile Java development

For several months, I have posted a survey of which Integrated Development Environment is being used by the visitors of javamidlet.com web site. Here’s a final tally of the results of the poll.

The top place goes to the NetBeans IDE with 49% votes and Eclipse is second with 32% votes. It looks like NetBeans is the favorite for J2ME development and probably so because of the rich set of available tools to help the mobile Java developer.

Here’s the rest of the poll results list:

  • NetBeans – 49% (164 votes)
  • Eclipse – 32% (109 votes)
  • Others – 5% (17 votes)
  • Notepad – 5% (16 votes)
  • IntelliJ IDEA – 3% (10 votes)
  • Emacs – 2% (7 votes)
  • Nokia Carbide.j (2%, 7 votes)
  • Borland Jbuilder with Mobileset – 1% (5 votes)
  • MetroWerks CodeWarrior – 1% (2 votes)
  • IBM VisualAge Micro Edition – 0.003% (1 vote)
